Hytale system requirements
The current official download page lists 10 GB of SSD space for the minimum tier and 20 GB for the recommended tier. For Windows, that means a 64-bit Windows 10 version 1809 or Windows 11 system, an i5-7500/Ryzen 3 1200-class CPU at minimum, and 8 GB RAM. The December 2025 hardware article is useful context, but it is a dated benchmark rather than a second current table.
Current minimum target
This is the active checklist on Hytale's official Download page. It targets 1080p at 30 FPS and 192 view distance. It is a target, not a promise for every world, mod set, or future build.
| Part | Minimum baseline | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 x64 version 1809 or Windows 11; Linux x64 with kernel 6.15; Apple Silicon with macOS Tahoe 26.0 | The current official page lists more than Windows. Check the launcher path for your platform before troubleshooting. |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 equivalent | CPU performance matters because singleplayer runs the server simulation locally. |
| RAM | 8 GB | That is the current page's minimum figure; integrated graphics still uses part of system memory. |
| GPU | Integrated: Intel UHD 620 or AMD Vega 6; dedicated: NVIDIA GTX 900 series, AMD Radeon 400 series, or Intel Arc A-series | An up-to-date driver with OpenGL 4.1 support is required. |
| Storage | SSD with 10 GB free | Leave additional headroom for patches and growing worlds. |
| Multiplayer network | 2 Mbit/s download target over UDP/QUIC | This is a multiplayer bandwidth target, not a guarantee of low latency. |
Current recommended target
The official recommended tier targets 1080p at 60 FPS and 384 view distance.
| Part | Recommended baseline | Target |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 x64 version 1809 or Windows 11; Linux x64 with kernel 6.15; Apple Silicon with macOS Tahoe 26.0 | Same platform families as the current minimum listing. |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 equivalent | 1080p, High preset, around 60 FPS |
| RAM | 16 GB | More headroom for larger worlds, mods, and background tools |
| GPU | Integrated: Intel Iris Xe or AMD Radeon 660M; dedicated: NVIDIA GTX 900 series, AMD Radeon 400 series, or Intel Arc A-series | Use an up-to-date driver; dedicated graphics gives more practical headroom. |
| Storage | SSD with 20 GB free | More room for updates and explored worlds than the minimum tier. |
| Multiplayer network | 8 Mbit/s download target over UDP/QUIC | Bandwidth only; server distance and routing still affect latency. |
Singleplayer is heavier than multiplayer
The December 2025 official hardware article explains that singleplayer runs the client and the local simulation on the same computer. That is why a laptop can feel acceptable on a small multiplayer server but struggle in a busy singleplayer world. If you are close to the minimum, lower view distance before assuming the GPU is the only problem.
On multiplayer servers, the server carries more of that simulation work. You may be able to play below the singleplayer target, but the result still depends on the server's world size, mods, and view distance.
Storage, network and offline play
- Installation: the current official page lists 10 GB free for minimum and 20 GB for recommended hardware.
- World growth: explored and built worlds continue to add data. Keep more free space than the install alone requires.
- Offline play: the current official page says an internet connection is required for download and periodic authentication, while offline play is supported.
- Bandwidth: the published figures are download targets for multiplayer. They do not measure ping or guarantee a smooth connection.
Can your PC run Hytale?
- Check whether Windows is 64-bit, then compare your CPU against the minimum tier.
- Check RAM separately for singleplayer and multiplayer; 8 GB is not the same experience in both cases.
- Confirm the game is using the intended GPU, not an older integrated adapter on a laptop.
- Install it on an SSD and leave at least 10 GB free for the minimum tier or 20 GB for the recommended tier.
- Launch with a 192 or 384 block view distance, then use the settings guide to test stability.
What the requirements do not guarantee
A parts list cannot promise one FPS number. Hytale is still in Early Access, and performance changes with world simulation, view distance, mods, background recording, and the current build. If a system meets the table but stutters, start with view distance and the singleplayer/multiplayer distinction; do not jump straight to reinstalling the game.
Why two official pages appear in search
The current Download page is the active checklist. The December 2025 hardware article is a dated explanation of the performance targets and the singleplayer workload. Do not merge their numbers into one timeless specification sheet; Early Access requirements can change.
